NGSI: Waves

The disciplinary core ideas associated with waves are sophisticated and new for many middle school teachers. Even veteran middle school physics teachers learn a lot about the properties and behaviors of waves, the types of waves, and the ways waves are used in the transmission of data.

This course sets teachers up for success by exploring ways to use next generation instructional models and student-centered learning. Most importantly, they learn about how to engage students in this challenging content using multidimensional skills and lots of student-to-student discourse.

A comprehensive Waves Supplemental Student Unit is also available as part of this course.

I knew about waves. I have taught waves. But I never realized that I didn’t deeply understand waves until I investigated them during this course. I’m looking forward to bringing this deep learning to my students. They are especially going to like the focus on tech and music.
