Making Sense of Student Work PLC Protocol

Analyzing student work is a critical practice for teachers to master.

The Making Sense of Student Work protocol is designed to support teachers of any subject, working collaboratively to make sense of student work.

The protocol supports structured, evidence-based discussions about student ideas and the logic behind their correct and incorrect thinking. It also supports strengthening teachers’ abilities to make instructional choices in response to what was uncovered in student work. And finally, the protocol provides a framework for analyzing and improving formative assessment tasks used with students to ensure they go beyond simple recall to elicit deep thinking.

The most valuable resource that all teachers have is each other. Without collaboration, our growth is limited to our own perspectives.
